Madame Tussauds to immortalise Evel Knievel
Monday 7th January 2008
The legendary stunt motorcyclist Evel Knievel will be immortalised in wax by Madame Tussauds who are to unveil his figure in the States on January 23rd.
Ex-wife Krystal Kennedy-Knievel flew in from Florida this weekend to view the likeness with some other family members.
Rosita Chapman, marketing director of the Las Vegas Tussauds, said the wax museum was approached by Knievel's people about a year ago. "We definitely wanted to memorialise him for his 40th anniversary of the Caesar’s jump." Knievel was made famous on December 31, 1967 for his motorcycle leap over the fountains at Caesars Palace.
Knievel's figure and a replica of the bike used on the jump will be in the speed section of the museum. There are also plans to have a celebrity star placed on the Las Vegas Strip for Knievel (a site outside Tussauds, in front of The Venetian hotel, is under consideration).
