Protected No Claims Bonus - as the name suggests - protects your NCB. This is usually only available if you have accrued maximum NCB and you must pay an additional premium to protect it.
You should bear in mind that …
- only your current motorcycle insurer is obliged to protect your no claims bonus
- there is normally a limit on how many claims you can make before your NCB is affected
- protecting your NCB is not a guarantee that your bike insurance premium will remain the same. You are only protecting the discount you get
- following a fault claim it is usual for your motorcycle insurance premium to increase even if you have a protected no claims bonus, because the base rate on which your motorcycle insurance premium is calculated will rise.
